Went to Chicago today...hard to believe we are already 16 months post tx!!!
Where did that go? He continues to be complication free, rejection free, and everything in between. He weighs just over 24 pounds, which makes that a gain of 11 pounds in 16 months. Which to me is really cool! He is just under 3 feet tall so he's still my little shrimp with lashes as long as he is tall. But he is so normal in every way. Running, talking, playing with boy toys like Trucks and cars, bats and balls. (Although you will find him walking around with Alexis's dolls every now and again, or a pink purse on his arm...but that's okay, he's just learning to be a good Daddy we say! ) We had some blood drawn today from both him and me. One for research, and then just him for a Vitamin D level. If that proves to be in good standing they will take him off the Vite D for 3 months, then labs, then possible off for good. Then he is down to...

1 MED!!! Neoral 40mg X 2 per day...AMAZING.

Then we took the shuttle over to the Outpatient Clinic for his first Dental Exam. Surprisingly, we got a better report than we expected. The (very handsome) pediatric dentist said that his tooth discoloration makes his mouth look in a lot worse shape than it is. Our concern was about his overgrowth due to Neoral, and he said it was not as severe as he expected it to be. There were no cavities or infection or any sign of infection to come. Something that can cause the overgrowth and also an infection in it to get severe is dirty, plaque-ridden teeth, so to keep up with his brushing and wiping on his teeth with a wet cloth like we have been. Overall his mouth is actually in pretty good shape. He painted a Fluoride-Varnish on his teeth to help strengthen them and prevent decay and we were out of there.

And you know what, if brownish-yellow teeth is the worst thing wrong with him, even though it's disappointing to see, I am okay with it. I would rather have him in ugly colored teeth than not have him here at all, and that's where I sit. Check the album for two new photos of him on his 2nd birthday!
