This site is dedicated to our little trooper, Treyton Thomas Joe Miller.
Treyton's Story
Treyton was born on August 31, 2006, the son of Shannon Flies and Tom Miller, and the brother of Alexis Miller. In the whirlwind of weeks that followed, Treyton had bilirubin levels of 38, two exchange blood transfusions, multiple scans and liver biopsies, which led to a diagnosis of Biliary Atresia in September. After an unsuccessful Kasai procedure, Treyton is now waiting for a liver transplant.
Some of the pictures you will see, represent a time when his family still had no idea what was happening to him. He was 2 weeks old, under the bili-lights, and he was completely helpless to the blood labs, vitals checks, and leads coming from him.
This was also a time where his family sat for countless hours waiting for the team of docs to give an update or to report what his next set of levels were. Even though it was only a few months ago, it still feels like yesterday. We look at him now and see how far we have come, and how much further we have to go.
But...we will never forget where we have been. This situation has really portrayed what "family" is all about...in every sense of the word...everyone who has shown support for Treyton has become a part of it.
Though the road is not always easy or positive, we have Our Savior on our side, and have faith that whatever His plan may be for Treyton, it will work the way it is supposed to, for He loves him even more than we do.
There is always prayer and support, and fighting for life is an ongoing process that continues every minute, of every day, of every month he progresses. We have a wonderful, supportive network of family and friends that have become a rock in our lives.
We are not sure where we would be without everyone. We just try to take it one day at a time, and cherish every minute that we have with him.
How You Can Help
With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant patients are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. In Bloomington, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like Treyton. One hundred percent of all funds raised are used for patients’ transplant-related expenses.
Born on August 31, 2006, Treyton was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, and doctors at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago recommended a life-saving liver transplant. Treyton’s family has asked for assistance from the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. An estimated $30,000 is being raised by Bloomington volunteers.
Donations may be made in person at any Chase Brand/Bank One System branch location using account number 2730782584 or mailed to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 COTA Drive, Bloomington, Indiana, 47403. Checks or money orders should be made payable to COTA, with “In Honor of Treyton Miller” written on the memo line of the check.
